Companions

Our Lenni group meets about three times a year.  Almost every time we meet, we have 100% attendance. The commitment on the part of the companions is very edifying.

We always meet at 6 P.M. on a Sunday evening at St. Francis de Sales Rectory in Lenni. We begin with evening prayer, using the New Companion to the Breviary.  Faith sharing follows. The source of our sharing is usually a reading from works by Sisters Joyce Rupp, Macrina Wiederkehr, or Joan Chittiser. We have always provided material from a Franciscan Source for the Companions. It is simply amazing what we learn from each other when we share what has touched our hearts!  Our group has been invited to become involved with volunteering at Anna's Place in Chester.  Several of the group have become involved by collecting items for prizes at Bingo. Others have gone and have served soup. If I could sum up a definition of the Lenni Companions I would say that they take seriously Francis' mandate: “I have done what the Lord has given me to do; may the Lord show you your way.”   Their daily lives at home, in the parish, and in the work place are about doing what the Lord has given them to do.

The Lenni group is a healthy group who will continue to meet for some time.  They long for a spiritual life and are very receptive to learning all they can about how to be more dedicated followers of the Lord.  They are a gift to our congregation—they are Franciscan in spirit and are so attentive to learning ways to live the Gospel daily. They are ordinary people doing extraordinary work well. They just want to be good people—and they are!
