The first retreat day for the Walpole Companions was at Mary Burlone Stewart’s home in Falmouth, Massachusetts. |
An invitation in the bulletin of Blessed Sacrament Church in Walpole, Massachusetts, was answered by twelve women who became our Companions in Faith. Through the years Mary Burlone Stewart, Mary Driscoll, Jackie Slade, Helen Harris, and Pattie Brennan have remained faithful companions. Over the course of these ten years, we have always had twelve companions. During this time we have been blessed to have Sister Jean Ustasiewski, Sister Kathleen Ganiel, and Kathy Boehm (Companions Director) visit and share with us. Our year usually begins in the fall with a retreat day at Cape Cod. Mary Burlone Stewart and Jackie Slade have both hosted days in their homes. This past year we found 10 A.M. to 11:30 A.M. a more favorable time to gather. Our gracious hostess and cochairperson is Mary Antonetti in whose home we meet. All feel very committed to being Franciscan Companions in Faith. God has blessed us abundantly. We look forward to another year of sharing faith, encouraging one another, and growing in our Franciscanism.
