Assisi House Sister Celebrates 100th Birthday

Aston, PA — On September 29, 2006, Sister Crispin Hanselmann will celebrate her 100th birthday at Assisi House (the retirement residence of the Sisters of St. Francis of Philadelphia) in Aston, joined by the Assisi House sisters and staff, members of her family, and invited guests. The party is being hosted and planned by her nephew, Tony Karnicky.

Sister Crispin (Amelia Hanselmann) was born in Forschheim, Baden, Germany, on September 29, 1906. She entered the Sisters of St. Francis in 1922 and made her first profession of vows in 1925. Sister Crispin has ministered for eighty-four years in various parts of Pennsylvania. She ministered in elementary education in the Diocese of Allentown and for forty-five years worked at St. Francis Academy (formerly Most Blessed Sacrament School) in Bally. In 2004 Sister Crispin visited Bally for the rededication of the school. She also taught in Bethlehem, Allentown, Catasauqua, and Minersville.

In 1993 Sister Crispin moved to Assisi House in Aston where she continues to serve in prayer ministry.
