Aston, PA — Laura Delaney, Director of Food Services at Assisi House (one of the retirement residences of the Sisters of St. Francis of Philadelphia), is one of five finalists in NBC10's "Local Loser" contest. The video will air on NBC10 during the week of September 18. Based on NBC's, "The Biggest Loser," the local version, sponsored by Channel 10 and Friendship Cottage Cheese, is challenging Delaware Valley viewers to get into shape with the help of nutritionists and trainers.
When Laura learned about the "Local Loser" contest and thought about her past unsuccessful efforts to lose weight, she decided the contest was just what she needed. In her entrant video Laura hugs a fifty-pound box of potatoes and announces, "I carry this - and more - around every day and I need your help."
Once she received word that she was one of the five finalists, Laura began her regimen - and continues to adhere faithfully to it. She met at her home with a nutritionist who checked out the refrigerator and made suggestions. She meets with a trainer three times a week. The nutritionist, the trainer, and the gym membership were all supplied by the contest sponsors.
And while Laura is already a winner in the eyes of the retired sisters at Assisi House, where she has worked for three years, the sisters are praying that she'll become the "biggest loser."
