Aston, PA — SisterMary Vandergeest, OSF, Executive Director of the Franciscan MinistriesFoundation is pleased to announce two new members to the Board ofDirectors, Mary K. Smithson, Clerk of Courts, Criminal Division, BucksCounty, and Joyce McGill, Editorial Consultant, Netburn McGill, LLC,New York. Mary and Joyce both reside with their respective families inBucks County, New Hope, Pennsylvania.
Mary is an activemember of her community, serving on a variety of committees such as St.Mary Medical Center Foundation Board, Pickering Manor Auxiliary, TheLoyola Society (St. Joseph’s University), and Women’s Political NetworkBoard. She works very hard to keep integrity within county and stategovernments. Mary has and is serving as Clerk of Courts for more thaneight years and has served ten years as a Supervisor for NewtownTownship, both elected positions. Mary and her husband John are proudparents of three lovely daughters.
Joyce is a formereducator in the Philadelphia school system and the Newtown FriendsSchool Bucks County. She has been an active member of Volunteer inTeaching Alternative (VITA) as a coordinator for their DecisionsProgram presented to inmates in the Bucks County Correctional System. Joyce is a strong advocate for Environmental Issues, serving oncommittees of the Philadelphia Horticulture Society and Bowman’sWildflower Preserve. She was formerly Chair of the Upper MakefieldHistoric Board and a member of the St. Mary Medical Center Foundation. Joyce is energized working on issues dealing with the environment andthose who are poor and underserved.
Sister MaryVandergeest said of Joyce and Mary, “these individuals will play keyroles in our continued growth as a foundation, working toward sharingthe mission of the Sisters of St. Francis of Philadelphia with otherswho are in need of our assistance.”
