Aston, PA—The Sisters of St. Francis of Philadelphia were recently honored by The Communicator Awards both for their print publication, Good News, and for their website, www.osfphila.org.
The Good News publication received the The Communicator’s prestigious Award of Excellence for print publications, presented to entrants whose ability to communicate elevates them among the best in the field. Approximately 14% of entrants win this award.
The website received The Communicator”s Award of Distinction for Websites, given for projects that exceed industry standards in design or communication skills. Approximately 18% of entrants win this award.
The Communicator Awards is an international award competition that recognizes outstanding work in the communication field. Entries are judged by industry professionals who look for companies and individuals whose talent exceeds a high standard of excellence and whose work serves as a benchmark for the industry. There were 5,214 entries from throughout the United States and several foreign countries in The Communicator Awards 2006 Print Competition.
Elizabeth Verna, Director of Communications for the Sisters of St. Francis of Philadelphia, also received notification that the Good News publication was among the finalist for the International Association of Business Communicators (IABC) 2006 Gold Quill Award. Having been judged to be of superior quality in the first-tier judging, the Good News entry also competed in the second-tier judging before the Blue Ribbon Panel, an international team of veteran communicators.
Previous Awards
Both the Good News publication and the website have a solid history of award-winning. Good News received the EPIC Award from the Philadelphia Chapter of IABC for six consecutive years: 1999, 2000, 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004. In 2000 it also received an ACE Award from the New York Chapter of IABC.
In 2002, the congregational website, www.osfphila.org, was a runner-up in the Web Site: New Site category of the Pepper Pot Awards (won the Pepper Pot Ladle), sponsored by the Philadelphia Chapter of the Public Relations Association of America (PRSA). In 2004 the website won both the PRSA Pepper Pot Award for Website Communication: Established Site and the IABC EPIC Award. In 2005 it was one of the sites judged “Webby Worthy” in the 9th Annual Webby Awards.
